July 1998 CIDDA MEMBER ADDS FIVE STAR SOLUTION TO NEW HILTON HOTEL With the latest addition to Hilton Internationals chain of five star hotels worldwide due to open in Belfast in September, Stanton - a member of CIDDA - has installed its SMU drainage system at the property. SMU provides exceptional sound insulation in operation and independent tests have proven that cast iron is the quietest drainage pipe material currently available. Iron is also non-combustible and will not emit dangerous or toxic fumes in the event of a fire. Because SMU does not require special fire cladding or fire collars it was considered the most cost effective choice where safety was a major consideration. Qualities of Stantons SMU above and below ground drainage system in 125mm diameter were procured through the projects plumbing contractor Stothers (M&E). Joe Deane of Mott McDonald, Hilton Internationals Belfast consulting engineers, said: " SMU was selected because cast iron has very good fire rating qualities and sound resistant properties. Within a hotel environment these elements are crucial as the drainage system is located in the main rising ducts, taking solids and waste from the hotels bathrooms, 194 bedrooms and kitchens." The Hilton development at Langside, near the river Langan, will be open for business in September 1998. It comprises 194 bedrooms with a full range of guest services, bar, leisure club, conference venues and a grand ballroom. A spokesman for CIDDA said: "Cast iron is the ideal material for a project such as the Belfast Hilton. It is one of the few materials which can be installed and virtually forgotten in terms of maintenance due to its superior strength and durability." |
